چکیده

When independent variables are measured with error, ordinary least squares regression can yield parameter estimates that are biased and inconsistent. This paper documents an inflation of Type I error rate that can also occur. In addition to analytic results, a large-scale Monte Carlo study shows unacceptably high Type I error rates under circumstances that could easily be encountered in practice. A set of smaller-scale simulations indicate that the problem applies to various types of regression and various types of measurement error. The External Determinants of Inflation: The Case of Iran

The study of determining the factors affecting inflation or consumer price index has been conducted by many macroeconomic economists nationally as well as internationally. In this paper, we assess the external determinants of inflation dynamics in Iran. For this purpose, we use an OLS single equation model and a vector error correction model (VECM). Results of the analysis reveal that money sup...

Modified signed log-likelihood test for the coefficient of variation of an inverse Gaussian population

In this paper, we consider the problem of two sided hypothesis testing for the parameter of coefficient of variation of an inverse Gaussian population. An approach used here is the modified signed log-likelihood ratio (MSLR) method which is the modification of traditional signed log-likelihood ratio test. Previous works show that this proposed method has third-order accuracy whereas the traditi...

False Discovery Rates in PET and CT Studies with Texture Features: A Systematic Review

PURPOSE A number of recent publications have proposed that a family of image-derived indices, called texture features, can predict clinical outcome in patients with cancer. However, the investigation of multiple indices on a single data set can lead to significant inflation of type-I errors. We report a systematic review of the type-I error inflation in such studies and review the evidence rega...

Causal Nexus between Inflation and Economic Growth of Japan

This study aims to evaluate the link between economic growth and consumer price index (CPI) in Japan for the period of 1980-2014. Initial series were adjusted for stationarity using the Augmented Dickey- Fuller (ADF) test for unit root followed by the application of Johansen Co-integration Test in order to examine the long-run relationship among the variables, while the causalities were evaluat...
